To be able to input or type Chinese characters on your Blackberry mobile device,
1. To be able to read Chinese characters on your Blackberry, you would first need to download the latest Blackberry Desktop Software. You will need to choose the multilanguage version of the Blackberry Desktop Software if you want your Blackberry to be able to display Chinese.
2. Download the above Blackberry Desktop Software file to the PC
then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
You will probably also need to uninstall any previous BlackBerry
device software (such as Facebook) on your Blackberry mobile
device. Go to the Control Panel and then go to Add/Remove
Programs. There You can find any previously installed device
softwares. Don’t confuse the device software with the BlackBerry
Desktop Manager.
3. On your PC, locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in
c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
If you cannot find it, then don't worry. Continue.
4. Plug in Blackberry and Open Desktop Manager. You should be
prompted to upgrade. Then you can make necessary
selections such as choosing Chinese as a language to be
displayed on your Blackberry device, as well as the Chinese
language input methods from "Device Application Selection"
window. Then follow the instructions and the upgrade
process starts.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new Blackberry Desktop Software it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the Desktop Manager says "waiting for initialization."
Now, you will be able to type or input Chinese on your Blackberry mobile device.
Warning: If you have problems
with the above method, please call Blackberry support line, or
your mobile phone company. If you are unable to receive
emails after the above installation, it may be because of an
incompatibility with the Facebook application on your Blackberry
device. Call Blackberry support line, and they will be
able to assist you to back up your emails and address book
information, and reinstall the Blackberry Open Desktop Manager.
